We have all heard of feminism. It’s a common everyday topic around many lunch tables. But what about meminism? Never heard of it? That’s probably because only self-entitled men think that it’s needed. But first in order to understand why men think that they need meminism, we need to understand what feminism is and how this has influenced the emergence of meminism.

Feminism is, as defined by Merriam Webster Dictionary online, the belief that men and women should have equal rights and opportunities. This means that feminism promotes  equal rights for women and men. The media portrays feminism in a negative way. They portray feminists as unattractive women who need a man.

Meminism is the “fight” for men’s rights. Because apparently making a dollar to women’s 77 cents and having almost no oppression whatsoever isn’t enough for them. Women all over the world feel threatened by men to the point where they want to carry weapons or something that can become one at all times. It’s amazing how men feel so insecure about their own masculinity when women decide they want to speak out against something. If your gender did 66% of the work but only owned maybe 1% of the land on Earth, you’d be mad too.

Both feminists and meminists complain that their gender suffers from “double standards,” which are, according to Google, a rule or principle that is unfairly applied in different ways to different people or groups. Say a man sleeps with a lot of girls, he’s called a player, which isn’t something commonly seen as bad. If a woman sleeps with a lot of guys, she’s called a slut. No one wants to be called a slut. On the flip side, meminists don’t like the following double standard. When a woman wants to split the bill, she’s being independent, but when a man wants to split the bill, he’s being cheap. The funny thing is, since feminism is equality for both genders, feminists want to put an end to double standards like this as well. Meminists just don’t realize this fact, otherwise they too would be feminists.
