Pella Community High School presents James and The Giant Peach, the musical version of the children’s book by Roald Dahl. The director, Suzanne Jones, legally gained the license to perform this musical.
James and The Giant Peach stars freshman Connor Gauley as “James,” junior Andelyn Sunderman as “Ladahlord,” and seniors Natalie and Caroline Henry as “Spiker and Sponge.” Practices began in the beginning of the school year, only a few weeks after auditions were held. Tessa Campbell, a senior at Pella High, is in charge of the crew backstage. Senior Grace Larson is the assistant director, and senior Ethan Vance is stage manager.
The pit band is led by Damien Place, one of the high school band directors, and has a combination of brass and string instruments. The sound/lighting is also manned by students, under the supervision of Gabe Schotte. The peach was created by Steve Parisee and painted by the cast.
It will be held in the Pella High School Auditorium on Thursday, November 2nd at 7pm and Saturday, November 4th at 7pm and 2pm. Tickets are 10 dollars for adults and 5 for children and students. General Admissions tickets start selling at six o’clock, and the house opens at six thirty.
