Q: Why did you decide to become a basketball coach at Pella High?
A: Basketball has always been a passion of mine. I enjoy working with athletes to improve their skills and teach them life lessons along the way.
Q: What are some of your responsibilities as a coach?
A: Some of my responsibilities include helping with practice plans, scouting opposing teams, and assisting our athletes in skill development to name a few.
Q: Describe a typical practice.
A: A typical practice begins with a brief talk, dynamic warm-ups, then a segment of defense, offense, shooting and transition drills. It typically concludes with a segment of competitions or scrimmage. We try to keep practices competitive and game-like.
Q: What is your coaching philosophy to help promote a positive energy with your team through both positive and negative situations?
A: My philosophy is to keep an open line of communication with positive attitudes. Being part of a team is like being a part of a second family, so it is important that the athletes develop positive relationships with each other when in the sport.
Q: What are some of your goals for your team this season?
A: A goal for our team this season is to continue to give our best effort every day in order to reach our full potential and surprise people during the postseason.
