The Pella High School softball team has recruited a new coach for this season. Guidance Counselor Teresa Thompson will take on the task of coaching the team. Thompson played softball in high school and college, as well as being an assistant coach at Central College.
“I love the sport, and I want to help the program out,” stated Thompson. “I feel like it will be a fun experience.”
This past winter, coaches Thompson and Jablonski held a leadership group program. It helped show seniors and juniors how to be a good leader on the team. Since this program, players have gotten together for tournaments and such.
“I would love to share my love for the game with the players. I’d like to have them love the game, be able to work with teammates, put in hard work, but also have fun at practice,” said Thompson.
Sophomore Allyson Almond is excited that Thompson will be the head coach and optimistic about the new season.
“I’m looking forward to this season because there’s a new coach, new season and new jerseys,” said Almond, “I’m also in charge of the softball playlist.”
