Pella Girls Golf Season Begins to Close
The Lady Dutch Golf season is starting to close. Led by head coach Joe Tangen, the Lady Dutch have five meet wins for the season with their lowest team score being 186 at the Pella Country Club. The team leader this season with the lowest 9-hole score for the Dutch was Lyons with a score of 42 strokes, which ranks 30th in 3A, followed closely by sophomore Emmerson Lee with 45 strokes, and senior Ellie Wogen with 46 strokes.
Since last season, the team has seen great growth and now has 13 members. “Usually we could bring everybody to every meet, but this year we can only bring about half of our JV,” said Wogen.
However, having a larger team has its upsides too. Wogen has enjoyed meeting new people. “On cart days (days when the team can use golf carts), we try to mix up the groups, so that people can know everyone on the team a little better,” said Wogen.
Lyons is proud of the chemistry they have been building as a team. “I love having fun at practice, and I urge people to pair up with new people, so everyone gets to know each other,” said Lyons.
