Logan Bruxvoort is a senior at Pella High School and is a part of the Pella High wrestling team. Bruxvoort and wrestling go way back to his preschool days. Throughout all of his hard work and dedication to the sport, he went on to place sixth in the state tournament at wrestling this year. Bruxvoort has many people pushing him and leading him on, including his family and Coach Jay Pike.
Just like everything else, Bruxvoort has Bittersweet moments with wrestling. He enjoys the team and competing at the high level that he was competing at, but he does not enjoy the weight cutting and injuries involved in wrestling
But there was other things motivating him to be more this year. “What motivated me this year was knowing that it was my last season, and I wanted to go out with a bang and go as far as I could and have a successful year.” Pike believes that one of the main parts of success is confidence. Pike states,
“Just being confident is one of the biggest things, I think. My big thing is that confidence builds success, which builds more confidence. This is a never-ending cycle, and if you can get someone to believe in themself and have the four mantras, the four mindsets every time you go on compete, you’re thankful for being there, you never giving up, you’re being aggressive being relentless with no fear of losing. The results kinda take care of themselves.
When it came to Bruxvoort he believed in himself and had coaches and family behind him that kept pushing him and kept him going. When Logan was little, his mom and dad signed him up for wrestling. Logan said,
“When I was in preschool, my mom was tired of me being a little gremlin and needed me to get out of the house and exercise, so she signed me up for wrestling. I feel like wrestling, over the years, has made me a more disciplined person, and I think parts of that transition over to the real world”
In the end Bruxvoort made it to State for the third time and placed 6th overall for his weight class. Overall he had a very successful wrestling season and a successful career in wrestling. Logan is planning to go on to be a lineman after he graduates.
