Lady+Dutch+Midseason+Overview

The Pella High Lady Dutch are currently third in the Little Hawkeye Conference with an overall record of 9-4 and a conference record of 5-2. The Lady Dutch trail the DCG Mustangs (12-2 overall and 7-0 conference) and Grinnell Tigers (11-2 overall and 5-2 conference) The team is quite young, with three freshmen suiting up for Varsity play, as well as three sophomores. Freshman Katie Vander Molen is one name quite often heard over the loudspeaker at games. Vander Molen contributes in many aspects of the game. But, one statistic that stands out is her assist total. Vander Molen is currently fourth in assists in the conference with 32.

“Being a freshman on varsity was a little intimidating at first but the girls really took me in and were all really nice to me. I also knew a lot of the girls because of previous sports I played with them. I think we can go really far this postseason and accomplish our ultimate goal of getting to Wells Fargo Arena,” said Vander Molen.

Another big contributor to the Lady Dutch is Junior Jessica Holterhaus. Holterhaus is currently fourth in points per game in the conference with 12.2. Holterhaus is also fifth in the conference in terms of rebounds per game with 7.5.

“We’ve been working really well and our team chemistry keeps getting stronger. We’ve finally been putting things together and how we’ve been playing makes me really excited for the playoffs,” said Holterhaus.

The Lady Dutch are hosting the Oskaloosa Indians tonight and are looking to bounce back after a loss against the ADM Tigers. The Indians are 1-10 overall and 0-7 in the conference.
