Today the United States is asked to make a very tough decision. Polls will be full of citizens voting for the next Commander-in-Chief. With as important of a decision as this, it is vital to have knowledge about both candidates. The following is background information about Donald J. Trump, the Republican candidate.
Trump, 70, was born in Queens, New York City in 1946. He lived with his mother and father until he was thirteen years old when he attended The New York Military Academy. He excelled at the academy and was successful both socially and academically. After finishing eighth grade and high school at The New York Military Academy, Trump went on to graduate with a bachelor’s degree in economics from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania in 1968.
Before the beginning of his presidential campaign, Trump was a businessman. It all started when Trump worked at his father’s real estate and construction business. In 1971, the business was handed over to Trump, and he renamed it, calling it the Trump Organization. Since then, Trump has moved on to building skyscrapers, casinos, golf courses, hotels, and many other developments. Until 2015, he also owned the Miss Universe, Miss USA and Miss Teen USA beauty pageants.
In addition, Trump has spent a lot of time on television. He co-hosted and produced the television show The Apprentice. He has also been featured in many different forms of media, ranging from movies to music videos to a Playboy video 2000 Centerfold.
Over the course of his career, Trump has proved that he is no stranger to scandal. Everyone who follows current events knows that there have been various scandals over the course of his presidential campaign. However, Trump also faced several prior to his campaign. His scandals involve allegations about Trump University, housing discrimination, four bankruptcies, and alleged mafia ties.
Unlike Hillary, Trump does not have any background in politics. He has never held an elected office, high military rank, or a government post. According to CNN political writers Laura Koran and Ryan Browne, if Donald Trump makes it to the Oval office, he will be the only president whose previous credentials are being a chief executive officer.
