After Year of Absence, Pep Band Fires Up Dutch Basketball Teams

One of the most anticipated activities for members of the Pella Band program has returned after a year absence. This year’s Pep Band consists of over 60 members, including many new participants. The group’s repertoire consists of over 40 different songs and a variety of different instruments to get the home crowd pumped up.

Sophomore Levi Hansen has been eagerly looking forward to being a member of the group. “As a kid watching basketball games, I loved listening to the band play and to see how excited they got to play their music.”

Hansen plays the cowbell as well as the trap set, which he learned specifically for the group. Junior Eli Burrows enjoys each pep band performance and would encourage others to join.

“If you want something fairly engaging and social but also more relaxing and less demanding than marching/concert band, Pep Band is a really good option for you.”

Sophomore Sage Bishop agrees, and notes that Pep Band is a good way to socialize with upperclassmen.  “It’s been fun to spend time with people that I normally wouldn’t have.

Noah Allen, a member of the boys’ basketball team, enjoys the pep band and the atmosphere.  “I thoroughly enjoy them being present at games. They bring a ton of energy and fill the stands.”

The band performs during every regular scheduled home basketball game to cheer on our own Pella Dutch.
