Children Gifts of the Ages

Mr. Potato Head was created by George Lerner.  It was the first toy advertised on television, and more than a million were sold in a year.  The original toy cost 98 cents and came with hands, feet, ears, two mouths, two pairs of eyes, four noses, three hats, eyeglasses, a pipe, and pieces of felt resembling facial hair.

Barbie was created by Ruth Handler after a trip to Germany.  Handler was inspired by a doll she saw on that trip. The Barbie looks were a replica of an actual woman standing on the street. That’s how they came up with the original look of the doll.

The Cabbage Patch Kids doll was based on a story told by a young boy by the name of Xavier Roberts.  In his story, he wandered into a magic cabbage patch hidden behind a beautiful waterfall. There he discovered busy little Bunnybees sprinkling cabbages with magic crystals. The Cabbage Patch Kids magically sprouted out of those cabbages.

Beanie Babies first started in Chicago before spreading all over the nation. All they were was a stuffed animal filled like a bean bag. What made them so unique to kids was the fact it had a heart with a name on it. Kids loved the idea of collecting the large variety of animals in Beanie Baby family.

Tickle me Elmo was a stuffed animal that when squeezed would make all sorts of sounds and noises. It was commonly trending with young toddlers, and parents would do anything to get their hands on them.
