Summer is approaching quickly, and what’s summer without a good summer playlist? I’m talking about driving around with your windows down singing, songs that make you feel like you’re on a beach or at a bonfire with your friends. If you need a few recommendations for your own summer playlist, this article is for you.

“Cruel Summer” – Taylor Swift

“Cruel Summer” is an obvious choice for number one, and really any songs from Taylor Swift’s 2019 album “Lover” would be prime picks for a summer playlist.

“Santeria” – Sublime

Sublime is a 90s punk band who is well known for their hit single “Santeria,” and for good reason, this song is a perfect addition to any playlist.

“Amber” – 311

This song was released in 2001 by the artist 311, the song is heavily inspired by reggae-style music and has all the right vibes for summer.

“I Ain’t Worried” – OneRepublic

Made popular by the movie “Top Gun: Maverick” which made 1.493 billion USD in the box office, this feel-good single blew up last year and is still a great pick for your summer playlist.

“Summertime Sadness” – Lana Del Rey

One of Lana Del Rey’s more popular songs, “Summertime Sadness” is a more moody and romantic option for your summer playlist. Lana Del Rey’s new album, “Did you know there’s a tunnel under ocean blvd” also has many good candidates.

“Shotgun” – George Ezra

This is the perfect driving around with your windows down song. George Ezra has a very distinctive voice which pairs perfectly with his folk/rock-type songs.

“Hey ya!” – Outkast

This is an iconic song of the 2000s by the band Outkast.  It has a very upbeat feel to it and would be a great addition to any summer playlist.

“California Girls” – Katy Perry

Almost everyone knows this song, and it’s the perfect hype song for the summer. This song was the lead single for her third album released in 2010 and is still wildly popular.

2. “Hawaiian Roller Coaster Ride” – Mark Kealiʻi Hoʻomalu

If you’ve ever seen Lilo and Stitch, then you know the cheery scene where the whole family is surfing on a tropical beach. It’s self-explanatory that this nostalgic pick makes the list.

“Ophelia” – The Lumineers

The Lumineers are one of my favorite bands because I just love the indie/folk feel to their music. “Ophelia” is one of their most popular songs and just makes me think of summer.
