Q: How long have you been a part of Forte? What has being a part of Forte meant to you?
A:”I have been in Forte for 4 years, since I was a freshman. Being a part of this team is one of the best parts of my high school experience. It is like a family that I am so grateful to be a part of.”
Q: What is it like being one of the seniors on the team? Does it feel different than last year? What responsibilities come with it?
A:”Being a senior has definitely brought a new level of responsibility to this season and I think all 7 of us feel it. However, there were no seniors on the team last year so we already felt a little bit of that last year with being the oldest ones on the team. A few of our responsibilities as senior leaders include choreographing homecoming and showcase routines, planning activities outside of practice, and helping newer members feel comfortable and confident.”
Q:What is the environment like being on Forte?
A:”The environment of Forte is something unlike any other group I’ve ever been a part of. As teammates, we push each other every day but we also have so much fun together- which is essential to keeping our team at a high functioning level. “
Q: Are there any connections or relationships you’ve gained through Forte?
A:”Forte has allowed me to become friends with people I wouldn’t have interacted with otherwise. So many of the girls on the team have quickly become some of my best friends and I am so thankful for that. I have also made great connections with people across Iowa due to ISDTA (Iowa State Dance/Drill Team Association).”
Q: What are you looking forward to at state? What does your performance look like this year?
A:”State is a wonderful experience for so many reasons. I am looking forward to quality time with the team as well as showing the state what Pella Forte has been up to. Our 3 routines- Jazz, Pom, and Military- will all take place at Wells Fargo Arena on Friday, December 1st. Each dance is very different from the others but it’s complicated to explain so I guess you’ll just have to watch us to see!!”
