This upcoming wrestling season is especially important to seniors Jackson Van Kley and Keiran VanVoorst because it will be their last season competing in high school. However, they both expect some big challenges this upcoming season.
“Our conference this year has some really good competition, and some matches should be really close,” said VanVoorst. “It will definitely come down to who puts more work in.”
After qualifying for state this past year, Van Kley hopes to reach new heights this year.
“Last year we had a good team, and we did return a lot of starting wrestlers for a lot of weight classes. Hopefully we can carry that momentum into this season and continue to push ourselves,” said Van Kley.
Pella wrestling hopes to keep their success rolling this year, as many of the varsity wrestlers are seniors. Van Voorst hopes that many people will come out and support the team.
“I am looking forward to wrestling at home with the lights out meet and having a big crowd and an energized atmosphere.”
